Vinyl siding colors by profile: which ones come in lap, board and batten and shakes
Many homes mix siding profiles. Lap siding covers the main walls, while board and batten or shakes appear on gables or around entries; for this combination to look cohesive, the color must match across every profile. This limits options more than charts imply. A full chart lists every color a manufacturer sells but does not indicate which colors are available in all three profiles simultaneously.
The table below shows availability for five manufacturers sold in the US.
| Maker | Colors in the vinyl range | Same color in lap and board and batten | Same color in lap, board and batten and shakes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alside | 36 | 27 | 27 |
| Mastic | 49 | 30 | 27 |
| Norandex | 38 | 28 | 28 |
| Royal (Westlake Royal) | 33 | 33 | shakes not in this catalog |
| CertainTeed | 48 | 30 | 29, with Cedar Impressions polymer shakes |
To use all three profiles in a single color, start by selecting a color from the lists below. Then choose the specific siding line that matches your needs.
Colors available in all three profiles
The lists below include colors sold under the same name in lap siding, board and batten, and shakes or shingles. Hex values reflect those published by the manufacturer. Some names have two or three different hex values across product lines. These are marked in the list. When a color has multiple values, check the specific value for the two lines you plan to combine.

CertainTeed (29 colors, shakes in polymer)
CertainTeed’s shakes and shingles are Cedar Impressions, a polymer product rather than vinyl. The 29 colors listed below appear in its vinyl lap siding, vinyl board and batten, and Cedar Impressions under the same name. Because Cedar Impressions colors are blends with many values per shingle, the hex code shown is either the lap siding value or a range.
Snow #F3F4F3, Colonial White (near white, many values), Herringbone #E5E0D6, Desert Tan (many values, around #E2D6BB), Savannah Wicker #CCBFA2, Sterling Gray #C5C6C3, Graystone #B9B7B0, Natural Clay #B7AB9B, Cypress #AEAC8B, Granite Gray #A9A49D, Weathered Wood (around #8E7C72), Castle Stone (around #8C857C), Spruce #868770, Charcoal Gray #838683, Flagstone #838889, Sparrow #837D74, Wedgewood Blue (around #687F88), Sable Brown #6D5E4E, Smoky Gray #63615A, Pacific Blue #616D74, Espresso (around #5B5047), Forest #596659, Deep Mineral #505861, Midnight Blue (around #4C5563), Slate (around #4F4B48), Tuxedo (from #494749 to #2B2625), Autumn Red #915045, Melrose #793931, Brownstone #653F33.
Royal: lap and board and batten
Royal offers all 33 of its vinyl colors in both lap siding and board and batten. Royal shakes are not yet included in this catalog. Check the shake color on the manufacturer’s chart before planning a third profile.
Why the profile limits the color
Board and batten and shakes have smaller product lines than lap siding. Mastic sells 49 colors, 27 in all three profiles. A color that looks good on the full chart may not exist in the second profile you need.
A name usually refers to the same color, but not always. In the lists above, Alside Harbor Blue has three published values, while Juniper Ridge and Monterey Sand have two each. When a name carries more than one value, verify the specific hex code for each line you plan to combine.
On a house

Planning two profiles in one color
- Select the color from the lists above rather than the full chart.
- From the same manufacturer, choose the lap line for walls and the board and batten or shake line for gables.
- If the color name has more than one published value, confirm the value in both lines.
- Order a sample of each profile and hold them side by side outdoors in daylight.
- Check the combination on a photo of your house before ordering the full quantity.
About the numbers. Counts come from the catalog behind GetFacade as of November 8, 2026, and cover active vinyl siding sold in the US. A color counts for a profile when the maker sells it under the same name in at least one line of that profile. Hex values are the ones the makers publish. The color on your screen is not the color of the panel, so judge real samples outdoors. Whether a color is available in a given line is confirmed when you order.
